Spink County officials warning residents about scam

Posted: Updated:

The Spink County Sheriff's Department in Redfield, South Dakota called KSFY to tell us about a scam they want to pass along to you.

They say there are a few scenarios but in one, a scammer is calling people asking them to pay outstanding parking tickets.

But the scammer's number is coming up as the Spink County Sheriff's Office.

Here is the number: 605-472-4595.

The chief says he has seen some resident's caller id personally and that is the number that popped up. But no one from his department is making those calls.

Plus, the department says they don't do that type of business over the phone.

If you have received those calls you can report it to the Spink County Sheriff's Office at 605-472-4595.
