The Sioux Falls Stampede tallied 52 shots on goal, but came away with just one point in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Waterloo Black Hawks in front of 3,402 Friday night at the Sioux Falls Arena. Ryan Papa's goal 2:42 into overtime lifted the Hawks to victory and moved them within four points of first place in the West.

Bryan Moore scored twice in the first period as the Herd built a 3-1 lead, but Waterloo rallied with two goals in the second to tie the game and eventually force overtime. Charlie Lindgren stopped 30 of 34 shots in goal for the Herd who fell to 12-20-3 on the season, but gained a point in the standings and are now just two points out of a playoff spot.

The Stampede wasted little time getting things going just 54 seconds into the game when Justin Selman tallied his sixth of the season. Kyle Rankin and Bryan Moore earned the assists as they found Selman wide open in front of the net and Selman one –timed the puck past Waterloo netminder Eamon McAdam to give the Herd a 1-0 lead. The celebration would be short lived as Aaron Pearce tied the game minutes later on a one-time shot past Lindgren. Sioux Falls regained the lead at 11:41 when Bryan Moore tallied the first of his two goals. Selman found Moore open in the slot who backhanded a shot into the net for his third of the season. Moore would strike again less than four minutes later when Selman found Moore again open in front of the net and Moore buried the puck into the back of the net to give Sioux Falls a 3-1 advantage.  The Herd took that lead into the locker room, outshooting Waterloo 23-15.

The Herd's second period woes continued as Waterloo tallied two goals to tie the game. Sioux Falls has now been outscored 47-26 in the second period this season. The Hawks scored just 31 seconds in on a goal from Scott Macdonald to make it a 3-2 game and then tied the game at 9:14 when Mark Naclerio blasted a shot into the upper right hand corner of the net to make it a 3-3 game. Sioux Falls outshot Waterloo 13-7 in the period and 16-11 in the third, but neither team would score and the game eventually went to overtime.

The Black Hawks took the game 2:42 into the extra session when Ryan Papa spun around the right circle and wristed a shot on net that went off the pads of Lindgren and into the net to give the Black Hawks their 20^th win of the season.

Sioux Falls outshot the Hawks 52-34 on the night and went 1 for 3 on the powerplay while Waterloo was also 1 for 3. The Herd return to action Saturday night when they host the Fargo Force at 7:05 PM.
