Both The Summit League and College Sports Madness named South Dakota State point guard Nate Wolters its league player of the week on Monday after the junior led the Jackrabbits to victories over Oral Roberts and Southern Utah.
"Nate played well this weekend against good teams," SDSU Head Coach Scott Nagy said. "We struggled as a team against Southern Utah, but he picked us up and stepped up when we needed him."
Wolters collects his second College Sports Madness award, his seventh career Summit League award and league-leading fourth of the season after averaging 27.5 points, 6.5 assists and 3.0 steals in the pair of wins.
Against first-place Oral Roberts, Wolters nearly notched a double-double, finishing with 24 points and nine assists in a victory that snapped ORU's 19-game Summit League win streak. Wolters added three rebounds and two steals while shooting 50 percent on 8-of-16 shooting from the field and 87.5 percent (7-for-8) from the foul line.
Two nights later, Wolters scored 31 points, converting 10-of-16 shots from the field, 62.5 percent, and 11-of-13, 84.6 percent from the free throw line in a win over Southern Utah. He finished with four steals and added four assists and three rebounds in the contest.
On the week, Wolters totaled 13 assists while committing just four turnovers for an assist/turnover ratio of 3.3.
