MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) - Instead of spending their time off from school traipsing around New Orleans' Bourbon Street, a group of Dakota Wesleyan University students heading to New Orleans for spring break will be working with hammers and nails.
Nearly 30 students are heading to the city next month during spring break to rebuild homes for people still displaced because of Hurricane Katrina.
The students will work with Epworth Project out of Slidell, Louisiana, which continues to repair and rebuild homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. The team of students is visiting churches in and around Mitchell to raise money for the project.
Campus Pastor Brandon Vetter says he hopes the trip will teach students about the commitment to service.
