In 1976 he was called the world's greatest athlete.
Today many of you may know him as the step-father of the Kardashians.
Bruce Jenner will be in the hub city Saturday as keynote speaker for the Boys & Girls Club awards ceremony.
Each day more than 130 kids fill the Boys & Girls Club of Aberdeen.
Among those children are Marie Degroots two daughters.
"The girls love coming here, they've made so many wonderful friends and so many activities for the girls to participate in," Degroot said.
It's those activities that executive director Michael Herman says are being recognized at the Boys & Girls Club ceremony this Saturday.
Fourteen awards will be given recognizing kids and board members for leadership, sports and recreation and even education.
"We concentrate on education right after school, we call it a power hour so we can recognize them for their educational achievements," Herman said.
The Boys & girls club has 20 computers for teaching and tutoring kids.
One lesson the club is trying to teach in their upcoming awards banquet is to have a good attitude in every aspect of life.
"Our theme is the evening of champions. So we though it would be very important to have somebody recognizable come and be our keynote speaker. So we have Mr. Bruce Jenner coming as our keynote speaker," Herman said.
"We're excited about the banquet this weekend, it is our night to come out and support this great club. Which has done wonderful things for my two girls," Degroot said.
Degroot and her daughters are excited to meet Jenner, and hear what he has to say about being a champion, in your every day life.
Tickets for this weekend's event are still available at the Aberdeen Boys & Girls Club.
The ceremony starts at 6:30pm Saturday at the Ramkota Inn Convention Center in Aberdeen.
