The Department of Criminal Investigation is looking into an officer involved shooting in Moody County.
South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley confirms that the shooting occurred early Thursday in Moody County.
KSFY has a crew in Moody County. They confirm that roughly an 1/8 mile portion of 223rd Street has been closed off. That is about 2 miles east of the I-29 Ward exit. The closed stretch of road ends at 475th Avenue & 223rd Street.

Moody County State's Attorney Bill Ellingson tells us that around noon on Thursday, a Moody County Sheriff's Deputy arrived at a location where two vehicles were stopped. This was about 2 miles east of I-29 on 223rd Street in rural Moody County.
One driver had stepped out of a vehicle with a pistol in hand. At some point after, the driver was shot by the deputy. The person was taken by ambulance to be treated for those wounds.
The identity of the person shot is not being revealed to the general public at this time.
The State Division of DCI is investigating.
