The 2012 Class A State Gymnastics Meet took place on Friday afternoon at the Swiftel Center in Brookings. For the second straight year, the Deuel Cardinals edged the Madison Bulldogs to win their second straight state title.
Behind outstanding efforts from junior Sam Wiekamp and freshman Meaghan Sievers, the two top scorers of the afternoon, the Cardinals compiled a team total of 145.846, a new state tournament record.
Not far behind, Madison finished second with a score of 141.979. Chamberlain, Hot Springs and Milbank rounded out the top five.
