Sioux Falls Fire Rescue is investigating the cause of a fire that started in the 600 block of West 13th Street in Sioux Falls early Saturday morning.
Investigators believe the fire started on the front porch of the home.
Three adults inside were sleeping at the time, and rescue crews woke them to get them to safety.
The house did not have any working smoke detectors.
"Make sure they're changed every 10 years. That's the life of a smoke detector so if it's over 10 years old, change it. If you take it off the wall there is a date; so if it's longer than 10 years, it's a good time to change it out," Steve Alberico said.
Batteries should also be checked monthly.
No one was hurt during the incident.
