Burns grow out of control due to dry conditions

Fire departments have been responding to several fires across Minnehaha County this weekend.

The dry conditions and moderate winds have caused controlled burns and rural fire pits to spread beyond original intentions.

Chicken coops and other farm structures have been damaged or destroyed.

Emergency officials are earnestly requesting that people suspend their burning while the area remains in such a dry state.

No injuries have been reported.
