You may recognize the first two candidates - former two-term councilors who tell me they're back for more.
"I just decided, I hadn't planned to. I came to the decision after talking to people and it was unsuccessful. I decided 'OK, I'll give this one more shot," De Knudson said.
"Like most people that run for office, I'm concerned about having a better community and here in Sioux Falls, we can make it a lot better," Staggers said.
Both of them have pretty extensive experience and hope it gives them an upper hand. But there's a newer face, Cory Buttemeier, a 4th generation resident of Sioux Falls who wants a shot at representing the people.
"I don't like what's happened with the city in the last 10 years. I'm not happy with the direction. I'm tired of being on the sidelines. We need new fresh blood, new ideas," Cory Buttemeier said.
Buttemeier ran against Staggers 10 years ago for a district seat but lost. He says he's focused on spending and hiring more police officers.
He says he's ready to represent everyone.
"They forget about the little guy and I don't want to forget about the little guy. I want to represent him, I'm your guy," Buttemeier said.
Meanwhile, Knudson has been in full support of the new events center while Staggers wants to make sure plans are carried out properly - especially in the price tag.
"I would have to be responsible for watching how the money is spent so we don't have cost overruns. The citizens were told $115 million, we have to stay to that number," Kermit Staggers said.
"I expect this to be spirited, positive race and quick with only about 6 weeks to go," Knudson said.
Over the next several weeks, you may be seeing a lot more of these candidates as they head into campaign mode.
Ultimately, you'll be the one to decide who takes the seat by heading to the polls Tuesday April 12th.
