Rob Swenson, editor of the Sioux Falls Business Journal joined us in the studio to talk about what's new in local business.
The cover-story from the February 22nd issue will focus on improving local conditions for the retail sector.
After several years of economic struggles and sluggishness, Rob tells KSFY that retail is picking up momentum.
Industry officials, such as commercial real estate brokers, say they are getting more inquiries and more prospective deals.
Retailers are opening new stores, expanding locations or making plans to grow.
Also in this week's issue, the South Dakota Legislature is entering the last couple of weeks of the 2012 session.
Some business issues are pending including, funding for the governor's worker-recruitment plan.
Nonetheless, at the moment, South Dakota voters – not state lawmakers – stand to resolve two big business issues pending in South Dakota: a proposed increase in the arRW sales tax and an economic incentive program that grants tax incentives for development projects. Those issues are slated to be on the statewide election ballot in November.
Sioux Falls Business Journal has returned to weekly publication. It will be inserted into all Wednesday editions of the Argus Leader.
