Augustana Vikings sixth-year senior guard Molly Hayes feels like she has spent an eternity suiting up for the blue and gold.
"It has been a long journey but a great one," Hayes said. "I have had the opportunity to play with a lot of different players in my time here.
And it has been quite the experience. The Harrisburg native has seen the Vikes through six 20-win season and a big move to the Northern Sun among many of the team successes during her tenure.
"Molly is a nature leader and a very smart player," 24th-year coach Dave Krauth said. "Not only because she is a sixth-year player but she is a student of the game and helps other players as well."
At 5-foot-6, Hayes has always flown under the radar. But when it's all said and done. She'll finish her career in the top ten in points and no.1 in all-time assists. The greatest honor for a true floor leader.
"This one means a lot to me," Hayes said. "I love to get teammates involved in the game, it is my favorite thing to do.
However there is one thing in all that time, she has yet to experience, an NSIC championship. And with the Vikes currently second at 16-4. She came back for one more shot at that trophy.
"We set our goals at the end of the year to win a conference championship and make regionals," Hayes said. "We learned from last year to take it one game at a time and go from there."
