Trial delayed in South Dakota prostitution case

Posted: Updated:

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Trial has been delayed for a South Dakota man accused of running a prostitution ring involving women from several states.

35 year-old Jeramy Caron of Summerset was to stand trial next week on numerous counts of promoting prostitution and pimping. Judge Jeff Davis granted a continuance requested by defense attorney Ken Orrock.

Orrock said prosecutors had recently given him 17 video recordings of interviews with prospective witnesses and he needed more time to review them. He wanted Davis to either delay the trial or exclude the evidence.

Caron is accused of bringing women from as far as Las Vegas, Chicago and Minnesota to work as prostitutes in Rapid City hotels. He has pleaded not guilty.
