Lyon County, Iowa authorities say a man who claimed he was robbed by two people on a highway outside of Larchwood Monday morning made the story up.
The Sheriff's Department arrested Aaron Abels Tuesday night on two counts of false reporting. Both of those counts are misdemeanors.
Abel told the Lyon County Sheriff's Department on early Monday morning he was driving east on A-18 outside of Larchwood and stopped to help a woman with her hazard lights on. Another man jumped out and demanded Abels' wallet. He said the male suspect took his debit card and drove away with the woman.
Tuesday night, Abels confessed he made the story up. After his arrest, Abels bonded out of jail after posting a $1000 cash bond.
