Scholar Of The Week: Megan Pond

Posted: Updated:

Our Scholar of the Week has two possible careers on her mind, in addition to an aggressive class load.
Megan Pond is a senior at Ipswich High School and she currently carries an astonishing 4.17 grade point average.
And she says hard work is important in school.....and beyond.

Megan Pond is a stand-out student at Ipswich High School and that is no accident.
If you sit down and talk to Megan, you can easily tell she is motivated to succeed...right now and in the future. "You have to be a good student in order to go on and be successful in college so I'm taking as many classes as I can."

And that idea of having an active class schedule is something she has focused on all four years of high school...telling us she would often opt for more classes and fewer study halls in order to get ahead on credits and course work.
She spends a lot of time in chorus and band....she says music has always been a part of her life.
Also a part of her life: kids. She volunteers as a teacher's assistant at the local elementary school and says her connection with children is pushing her to pursue a career in either education or medicine. "I really don't know which one I want to do so I have to get out and be exposed to both of those areas in order to decide which I want to do."

In addition to volunteering as a teacher's assistant, Megan has also served as a job shadow in the pediatrics unit of a hospital in Aberdeen.

For being named our Scholar of the Week, Megan will receive a $100 scholarship from FEM Electric Association....which is a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
