Sioux Falls construction update

Posted: Updated:

On Tuesday, the first phase of concrete repairs on East 10th Street will move east, to between Lowell Avenue and Conklin Avenue. The Lowell Avenue and Conklin Avenue intersections will be closed to northbound and southbound traffic. Lanes will be closed for the repairs but East 10th Street traffic will be maintained in both directions at all times. However the city is saying traffic delays are to be expected and you might want to think about picking another route all together. This work is part of the entire street repair project on East 10th Street from Franklin Avenue to Interstate 229. The first phase of work is expected to be completed May 18th, with full project completion by August 3rd.

The work on 41st Street from Louise Avenue to Westport Avenue also continues. Traffic delays are happening in this area. This is concrete pavement repair work that is going on, and different lanes will continue to be closed as the work continues. Work is expected here until May.

On Tuesday, the outside eastbound lane of West 12th Street between South Sertoma Avenue and South LaMesa Drive will be closed to traffic for sidewalk installation. The lane closure will be in effect during daylight hours only until the project is completed. The sidewalk improvements are expected to be completed by May 1st. During construction, motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Also on Tuesday the outside eastbound lane of West 57th Street from South Tennis Lane to South Bur Oak Place will be closed to traffic for sidewalk installation. This lane closure as well will be in effect during daylight hours only until the project is completed. The sidewalk improvements are expected to be completed by May 1st.

Starting on Wednesday, Sioux Falls Public Works will be lining the Western Interceptor Relief Trunk Sewer. Construction equipment will be set up along the curb and into the street at the southeast corner of the intersection of North Main Avenue and West Walnut Street.

Through traffic will be maintained. Access to local businesses and residential areas will also be maintained. You'll want to be careful in this area and slow down when traveling through the construction zone. Work is expected to be completed on North Main Avenue by 8:00 a.m. on Friday, April 20th. All work is to be completed by May 15th.
