YANKTON, S.D. (AP) - Authorities say they quickly apprehended an inmate who tried to leave a minimum-security federal prison camp in southeast South Dakota.
David Wood on Sunday night left the Yankton Federal Prison Camp in a vehicle that was stopped within minutes. Wood was taken back into custody and the 21-year-old female driver from New Madrid, Mo., was arrested for aiding in the alleged escape attempt.
Authorities say Wood is a nonviolent offender serving an 11-month sentence for a supervised release violation.
