Our Scholar of the Week is a leader in her school.
Her teachers say she loves to learn and to pass that knowledge onto others.
Laura Knippling of Miller High School says it is something she would like to continue to do for a long time.
When we caught up with Miller High School senior Laura Knippling, we were not surprised to find her taking part in something academic. In this case, a type of quiz bowl in the school gym as other students looked on.
Laura was holding her on and no one was surprised. she is a 4.0 student. "This semester I am taking government, physics, ag, structures, I tutor...and I take AP calculus."
Her course load is difficult by design.
Laura genuinely likes to learn things.
And she is also active outside the classroom....with FFA, speech and student council duties.
Mark Ketelhut is Laura's FFA advisor. "She is very engaging with other kids, she's very helpful. She helps tutor kids, she's such a great leader."
And it's her role as a tutor and a leader that has Laura thinking her future may lie in the classroom. "I really like helping....working with kids...so I plan on doing something with that."
And for being named our Scholar of the Week, Laura will receive a $100 scholarship from Dakota Energy Cooperative, which is a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
