Crime Stoppers and the Better Business Bureau held their Annual Document Shred Event on Saturday.
The event encourages awareness of identity theft by letting people bring their unneeded personal paperwork to be shredded.
Kathy Lueth said, "Shredding this information, making sure no one can get it, is one of the best ways to prevent identity theft which is becoming way too prevalent."
Organizers say you should shred papers with your social security number, bank account number and your driver license number on it.
The event was free, though donations were requested. Money raised goes into the Crime Stoppers reward fund.
