The man charged with murder at a homeless camp in Sioux Falls was arraigned at the Minnehaha County Courthouse Monday.
Eugene Martin, 42, is charged with first degree murder, first degree manslaughter and aggravated assault. Martin was also charged with one count of habitual offender due to three prior crimes of violence.
According to court documents, Martin has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges and his being held on $500,000 cash bond.
Martin is accused of killing Robert Thunderhawk with a shovel at a homeless camp near the 1100 block of north Cliff Avenue in Sioux Falls. Clint Cottonwood, 52, was an alleged accomplice and was charged with simple assault in the matter.
Martin's pre-trial conference is set for July 11 and a jury trial is set for July 23.
