The South Dakota Supreme Court has upheld a Canadian man's murder conviction and life sentence in the 1975 slaying of a fellow American Indian Movement activist.

Mitchell man pleads guilty to escaping from squad car 
A man who managed to flee from the back seat of a Mitchell police car has pleaded guilty to escape. Roderick Rouse, 22, of Mitchell has been in custody since the May 16 incident. Authorities say Rouse squeezed through a small, unlocked plastic window separating the back and front seats of the squad car and fled. He eluded officers for about an hour before being arrested near his residence.

Sioux Falls mayor outlines city's top opportunities
Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether is holding a press conference Thursday to discuss what he considers are the city's top opportunities for the city. "I am very goal driven as you know, so let's provide a ‘to-do list' and get even more accomplished for this great city we call home," Huether said.

Rugged terrain hampers search for missing teen
Authorities are continuing to search for a South Dakota teenager who went missing while kayaking, but they are using fewer people to comb the area around Deerfield Lake in the Black Hills.
