Task Force to distribute mortgage settlement funds

Attorney general Marty Jackley along with a task force will allocate three million dollars to South Dakotans whose homes were foreclosed.

Multiple states are splitting a $25 billion settlement with the nation's five largest mortgage service providers.

Consumers can find out if they are qualified for a settlement fund by going to www.nationalmortgagesettlement.com.

Business and governmental entities should submit written proposals for funding to the attorney general's office.

The task force will consider those applications starting August 1, 2012.
