A portion of the Big Sioux River will be closed to boaters beginning Monday.
Construction of the Sioux River South Sanitary Interceptor Sewer Replacement, Phase 1B Project, will require the crossing of the Big Sioux River from Tomar Park to Spencer Park.
That portion is between Minnesota Avenue and Cliff Avenue south of Interstate 229.
This construction may result in hazardous boating conditions for that stretch of the Big Sioux River.
Governor Dennis Daugaard has enacted a "No Boating Zone" effective at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 18, 2012.
The "No Boating Zone" is in effect for the portion of the Big Sioux River from the Minnesota Avenue Bridge continuing downstream to the Cliff Avenue Bridge within the City of Sioux Falls.
The order will be in effect until rescinded by the Governor.
