HILL CITY, S.D. (AP) - Hundreds of people gathered on a soccer field in the southwestern South Dakota community of Hill City to remember a teenager who drowned while kayaking on an area lake.
The body of Justin Lewis, 15, was pulled from Deerfield Lake last Wednesday, ending a search that began when he disappeared on May 28 and his boat and life jacket turned up the following day. His funeral was Saturday.
A group of Hill City teenagers helped plan the vigil Sunday night that including the lighting of candles, singing and the release of balloons.
