Minnesota man charged with 22 counts of sexual assault involving minors
A Minnesota man is in the Minnehaha County Jail on charges for 22 counts of sexual contact with two girls under the age of 16.
Justin Steenstra, 24, of Jasper, Minnesota was arrested for nine counts of rape in the first degree, 22 counts of sexual contact with a child under the age of 16, and one count of indecent exposure involving a child. All of the charges are felonies.
The counts involve two female girls and Captain Paul Niedringhaus, Minnehaha County Sheriff's Department, said there could possibly be two more victims. Niedringhaus said Steenstra did know the victims through their families and all of the victims are under the age of 16 years old. Niedringhaus said the crimes occurred within the last year in rural Minnehaha County in the Brandon area.
The arrest is part of an ongoing investigation by the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office. It came as a referral from the Department of Social Services.
The investigation started on June 15 and Steenstra appeared in court on June 18. Steenstra is currently being held on $50,000 cash bond.
