Alleged sexual predator behind bars, authorities look for more victims

Posted: Updated:

A Jasper, MN, man is behind bars, Wednesday, after prosecutors say  he sexually assaulted two girls under the age of 16 in Minnehaha County.

The Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office says it received a tip from social services which led to the arrest of 24 year-old Justin Steenstra.

Authorities are investigating the case because they believe there are two more victims out there.

The Minnehaha County Sheriff's Department says 24 year-old Justin Steenstra lives in Jasper, MN, but knows the alleged victims through family.

The crimes took place in rural Minnehaha County, near the city of Brandon.

KSFY visited Steenstra's hometown, Jasper, where people there say this is a shock while they worry about other young kids they know.

"We're a really small community and everyone knows each other so this would make you really upset to hear this because it could be your very good friend's child that it happened to," Stella Lingen said.

Steenstra's being charged with:

9 counts of first degree rape, 22 counts of sexual contact with a child under 16 and one count of indecent exposure involving a child.

He is being held on $50,000 bond. His next scheduled court appearance is July 3rd.
