Utility work is underway in Sioux Falls at the intersection of 57th Street and Cliff Avenue. Traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction on 57th Street through the intersection. Southbound Cliff Avenue will be restricted to one through lane and you will be not able to make a right turn onto westbound 57th Street. Traffic control for this work is also underway, but they should be done with that by noon on Friday. The overall project completion is scheduled for late October.
Weather permitting at 8:30 Thursday morning the Sioux Falls Street Division will be installing traffic loops on Valley View Road from 11th Street to 12th Street. The street will be closed to through traffic but it's expected to be opened again by 4:00 p.m.
On Thursday Eighth Street will be closed from Spring Avenue to Summit Avenue. The work is expected to be done by Thursday night. Then on Friday Eighth Street will be closed from Summit Avenue to Prairie Avenue. The work here should also be done by Friday night. The City of Sioux Falls Public Works Department will be replacing water services in these areas.
Another big project got underway this week. There are big time lane closures happening on West 12th Street, from Marion Road to Ellis Road. Various lane closures will be happening along West 12th Street to allow crews to get some road repairs done. Traffic will be maintained in both directions at all times but traffic delays are expected. If you take this route you might want to think about taking another way. The good news is weather permitting this work should finish up on Monday.
A lot of repair work is being done on Minnesota Avenue. Concrete repairs are underway at 26th Street and Minnesota Avenue. Lanes will be closed for repairs, but traffic will be maintained in all directions at all times. Traffic delays are expected but the work should be finishing up Thursday or Friday. It will be the same type of work going on at Minnesota Avenue and 11th Street. Expect lane closures but you will still be able to get through. This work should also be done Thursday or Friday. Finally lane closures will also be happening at 22nd Street and Minnesota Avenue. This work should also be done Thursday or Friday. Again expect lane closures on Minnesota Avenue at 26th Street, 11th Street, and 22nd Street.
Concrete repairs are also underway on West 18th Street between Duluth Avenue and Walts Avenue. The first phase will involve the street closure of 18th Street from the south leg of Summit Avenue to Walts Avenue. Through traffic will be detoured one block to the north and south. Traffic delays are expected so you might want to think about taking another way. The first phase of work is expected to last one week which would be next Monday and the entire project should be complete by July 13th.
