MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) - The oldest building in Mitchell will soon be history.
The City Council voted this week to condemn the old Longhorn Bar that was built in 1879 and tear it down, likely this fall.
The council had declared the property a public nuisance earlier this month. Councilman Greg McCurry says people consider the building an eyesore and not worth saving.
Property owner Jason Bates had offered a plan to repair the building but Public Works Director Tim McGannon said he couldn't accept it.
