The City of Aberdeen has lifted its boil order that took place over the past two days due to exceed E. coli traces in the city's water.
Last Wednesday the affected areas are from North Washington Street to North High Street and from 4th Avenue Northeast to 12th Avenue Northeast.
The city advised that people should not drink the water without boiling it first. All water was ordered to be boiled for one minute and cooled, or people should use bottled water.
The bacteria in the drinking water could make you sick and are a particular concern for people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms from E. coli infection include diarrhea, cramps, nausea or headaches.
The State of South Dakota and the United States Environmental Protection Agency set drinking water standards and have determined that the presence of fecal matter or E. coli is a serious health concern.
E. coli can pose a special health risk for infants, young children, some of the elderly and people with severely compromised immune systems.
