Repairs hit snags, Salem water shortage continues

Posted: Updated:

The Salem water shortage continues as crews keep hit snags while trying to make repairs at the water treatment plant.

Earlier this morning city officials said they replaced a part in the water treatment plant but then another part broke.

There is a concern that the city of Salem's water tower is getting dangerously low on it supply while crews work to repair the water treatment plant.

At this point the city of Salem is still asking citizens to conserve their water usage.

That means toilet use, laundry, and any other recreational water use is prohibited in Salem at this time.

People in Salem say it is an inconvenience but they understand the situation.

To make matters worse, the city pool is also closed at this time, a move forcing many kids in town to find new ways to beat the heat.

City of Salem officials say the water treatment plant could be repaired later today but regardless people should still conserve water to help the city replenish its supply.
