SPEARFISH, S.D. (AP) - A Spearfish company that makes three-wheeled motorcycles has been sold to a California company.
Lehman Trikes was sold to California-based Champion Trikes this week for an undisclosed sum.
Lehman Trikes moved to Spearfish in 2004. Founder John K. Lehman died this past January, and the business closed operations in March.
Champion president Craig Arrojo says Lehman Trikes USA will now operate as a private company, and the Spearfish location will employ about 50 when back in full production.
Arrojo says he'll bring back as many former Lehman employees as he can. He says he expects the first trike to roll off the assembly line in less than three months. An independent suspension will be produced as quickly as possible.
