MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) - A man who escaped from the back of a Mitchell police car has been sentenced to 100 days in jail and four years of probation.
Roderick Rouse, 22, pleaded guilty to escape in May. Authorities say he squeezed through a small, unlocked plastic window separating the back and front seats of the squad car and fled, eluding officers for about an hour.
Rouse also was fined $300 and ordered to take part in a sobriety program for at least six months following his jail term. He also has to pay $15 in restitution for breaking the plastic window and write a letter of apology to police.
