KSFY is hitting the road for some Summer road trips. Our first stop on Thursday takes us to Brookings, South Dakota to find out what people love about their hometown.
If you walk down Main Street in Brookings you'll find all types of people and all types of stores. A popular morning stop is Cottonwood Coffee. We spoke to an employee at the coffee shop who tells us on any given day most of the customers are regulars. He says he gets to know his customers and he could tell you a little bit about each one.
Another big part of Brookings is the SDSU Jackrabbit Campus. We spoke with students who say they love going to school in Brookings. They say it's a big campus with a small campus feel. They say they love leaving campus and heading downtown to check out all of the different businesses. They also say there's a great mix of people in Brookings, from students, to professionals, to professors, and store owners.
Besides the people it's also a diverse economy that Mayor Tim Reed says is keeping Brookings a growing city. Businesses like Daktronics, The SDSU Campus, and a close location to I-29, are just some of the reasons Brookings has grown to a population of over 22,000.
KSFY will be live in Brookings on Thursday at 5:00 and 6:00. We hope you'll join us or stop by to say hello!
