The residents of Salem can start using water in their homes and businesses.
Around 3:30 Thursday afternoon, the Salem Water Treatment plant was back online and producing water.
The system required a few hours to obtain a safe level in the water tower. The city of Salem is asking everyone to conserve water as the water tower is still not full.
The watering of gardens and lawns will be prohibited until Saturday night.
The cause of the computer failure will continue to be investigated and measures taken, if possible, to prevent this from happening in the future.
The City Council and employees sincerely thank the residents and businesses in Salem for their patience and cooperation.
