SCOTLAND, S.D. (AP) - The police chief in Scotland was injured during a weekend scuffle in the small Bon Homme County town.

Police Chief Steve Knakmuhs arm was broken in a fall during the incident that occurred early Saturday at about 2:30 a.m.

The Bon Homme County Sheriff's Office says a 22-year-old Sioux Falls man was arrested on charges of simple assault and resisting arrest. Both charges are misdemeanors. An Aug. 10 court date is scheduled.

Other law enforcement officers will fill in for Knakmuhs while he recovers. The recovery process is expected to last five to six weeks.
