Sioux Falls man arrested for raping two middle school girls
A Sioux Falls man is behind bars for allegedly raping two middle-school-aged girls who he met through Facebook.
Donald East, 21, was arrested Monday afternoon on one count of First Degree Rape and one count of Fourth Degree Rape.
Sioux Falls police said the 13-year-old girl was spending the night at her 12-year-old friend's place on Sunday night. Both the girls were friends with East on Facebook and the 12-year-old had been Facebook friends with East for over a month.
Sioux Falls police said East and the 12-year-old girl were texting and when East found out the two girls were together he told them to sneak out and meet him. Clemens said the two girls met East at JFK Middle School at 1:30 a.m. and East took the girls back to his apartment.
East allegedly gave the girls alcohol and cigarettes before he sexually assaulted both of the girls. At 4:00 a.m., East dropped the girls off a few houses away from the 12-year-old's home.
The mother of the 12-year-old was off work at 1 a.m. and noticed the girls were missing. The father was at home and said he did not realize the girls were missing. The mother tried to access her daughter's Facebook account to see if they could find out where the girls were headed.
She was able to do so and called the 13-year-old's mother who was also able to get on her daughter's Facebook account. The 13-year-old's mother discovered what the girls were doing and discovered they were going to meet Donald East.
Police were called at 4:45 a.m. however Donald East was not arrested until 2:30 Monday afternoon.
Officer Sam Clemens credited the mothers' work on discovering the suspect's identity through Facebook. He said this is a prime example of why you should monitor your child's Facebook activity.
