It is going to be a hot and steamy Independence Day!
In Sioux Falls, Wednesday will likely be the warmest, most humid day of the nearly week-long heat wave. Afternoon high temperatures will be pretty darn close to 100 degrees with dew point temps in the low 70s. The heat index will be back to near 110 degrees or higher in the afternoon.
The heat and humidity will begin to break from west to east over the next couple of days. Central and northern South Dakota will be back in the low 90s Thursday and Friday. In Sioux Falls and for points south and east, afternoon high temps will drop a few degrees each day through Friday. However, the dew point will go up, keeping the heat index at about 105 degrees Thursday and Friday afternoon.
Cooler temps and scattered thunderstorms are in the forecast for the weekend.
