EDGEMONT, S.D. (AP) - A wildfire that scorched nearly 9,000 acres in southwest South Dakota is now 95% contained, and some firefighters who battled the blaze are being dispatched to other Western fires.
More than 400 firefighters fought the White Draw Fire near Edgemont. Last Sunday, a C-130 air tanker crashed, killing 4 of the six crew members from a North Carolina National Guard unit.
The fire danger in the region is still high, and officials are urging members of the public to continue being cautious.
