The White Draw fire in the Black Hills of South Dakota is 100 percent contained as of Friday night.
The White Draw fire burned 9,000 acres of land four miles north of Edgemont, SD. It is the same fire in which four North Carolina Air Guard soldiers were killed when their C-130 plane crashed Sunday, July 4.
According to Great Plains Fire Information precipitation fell across many areas of the Black Hills Thursday morning which provided a pause in fire activity for crews to regroup and prepare for any new fires.
According to Great Plains Fire Information, Firefighters are prepared to respond to any smoke reports that come into the dispatch center in the coming days.
