Renovation of Madison High School to begin

Posted: Updated:

MADISON, S.D. (AP) - School officials in Madison are holding a groundbreaking ceremony Monday evening for a more than $13 million renovation of the eastern South Dakota town's high school.

Contractor Henry Carlson Company will begin this month on the ceilings above Madison High School's corridors because those areas serve as the pathways for some of the school's utilities, such as electrical wiring and ventilation ducts.

Workers will tear out all of the building's ceiling tiles this summer after re-supporting fluorescent lights with new wires hung from the roof area. Contractors will install new ceiling tiles as the surrounding work is completed.

School board members last week approved the bid package and accepted the proposed construction schedule.
