I-90 construction near Sioux Falls starts Tuesday

Posted: Updated:

Construction in the auxiliary lanes of Interstate 90 near Sioux Falls starts Tuesday, July 10.

The South Dakota Department of Transportation says traffic will be placed head-to-head in the westbound lanes from Exit 399 to Exit 402. Construction crews are working on the eastbound lane east and west of the bridge at I-229 and I-90 near Sioux Falls.

The project is expected to be finished and the road re-opened to traffic at the end of August. The I-90 off-ramp to I-229 southbound traffic will be open July 10.

The South Dakota Department of Transportation says speeds will be reduced to 45 mph in the construction zones while workers are present. Motorists are reminded fines are doubled in work zones.
