The two people inside the pick up that was shot gave the description of the suspected vehicle. The police caught up with Alycia Atwood, 20, and Ernest Lane, 38, at 11th Street and Summit Avenue almost an hour after the shooting.

Atwood and Lane were initially arrested for shooting at a vehicle and they were charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault and two counts of Felony Intentional Destruction to Property. Atwood was also charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

Officer Sam Clemens said at that time Lane was the suspected shooter. However, on July 5 someone contacted officers and said they witnessed what happened.

At Tuesday's police briefing, Officer Sam Clemens said the problem began at Borrowed Buck's Roadhouse with two victims and four other people--- three men and a woman. Clemens said the argument carried over to a gas station at 41st Street and Western Avenue and the four suspects got into two different cars.

Clemens said there was a chase that eventually ended at the corner of West Brookings Street and North Prairie Avenue. Clemens said Atwood and Lane approached the pickup and told it to pull over to the side.

Officer Sam Clemens said it was initially thought Lane had discharged the firearm, but the shot actually came from the vehicle in which Deshawn Swafford and Danny Washington Jr. were driving. No one was injured in the incident.

Swafford and Washington Jr. were arrested Friday on six counts of Aggravated Assault as well as three counts of Discharging a Firearm at an Occupied Structure or a Car. Swafford and Washington are being held on $500,000 cash bond each.

Officer Sam Clemens said he does not know if the assault charges against Lane and Atwood would be dismissed. Clemens said the decision would be up to the State's Attorney's Office.
