The 990 square foot room is constantly full. And, often times the resounding sentiment is of frustration and annoyance.
"(They) said it was going to be well over an hour and I had to be somewhere, so I came back and it's still an hour wait," said Jill Scott as she waited in line. "I'm not really getting anywhere."
Some folks get so upset waiting, sometimes for hours, for a new driver's license that the noise escalates.
"We had people screaming in the hallways obscenities. We called security. That was disruptive. We have children screaming running up and down. That's disruptive. We have children screaming running up and down," said Minnehaha County Commissioner Jeff Barth.
That's why the Minnehaha County Commission voted unanimously Tuesday morning to not renew the driver's license bureau's lease.
"It just seemed time for them to move," said Barth. "At one point we were considering moving them to the first floor but that wasn't popular because there's no space for people to lounge around."
