Tonight marks 50 years of Luverne's Annual Hot Dog Nite.
Beginning at 5:30 p.m. 15,000 all beef franks be handed out thanks to John Morell and the Rock Nobles Cattlemen Association.
The night is jam packed with events. At 6:30 p.m. is the Wienerman Triathlon where relay teams of four will run, bike swim and race. But in a triathlon twist, each athlete must eat a hot dog dish provided by the sponsoring restaurant.
Then at 7:15 p.m., the wiener dog beauty pageant gets under way on Freeman just north of Main Street. It's free, you don't need to register and it helps if both the owner and the four-legged hot dog are dressed up.
Then at 7:45 p.m. it's off to the races. For $5 you can race your wiener against other dachshunds. This year the winner weiner and their trainers get medals.
The night concludes with a little dancing in the streets. There will be live music on Main with the band Undercover.
