Kevin Schieffer named to South Dakota transportation panel
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Gov. Dennis Daugaard has appointed Sioux Falls businessman Kevin Schieffer to the South Dakota Transportation Commission.
Daugaard also has reappointed Mike Trucano of Deadwood to another term on the commission that determines road construction priorities and advises the state Transportation Department on overall transportation needs. Trucano has been on the panel since 1997.
Schieffer will join the nine member commission on July 27 to replace Dick Gregerson of Sioux Falls.
Schieffer currently advises and invests in start-up companies. He is a former U.S. attorney and spent 12 years as president of the Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern Railroad. He also was chief of staff for former U.S. Sen. Larry Pressler.
