Pheasants offense quieted in loss to Sioux City

Posted: Updated:

The Explorers got nine hits from the top four in the lineup Saturday against Sioux Falls, carrying Sioux City to a 6-1 victory. Three of those base knocks, including a sixth-inning triple, came from 2B Brian Bistagne.

The three-bagger was the first of the year for Bistagne, who scored three of Sioux City's six runs. The Pheasants got an RBI single from 2B Joe Anthonsen in the seventh. But the score did little more than prevent a Sioux City shutout victory.

Anthonsen went 2-for-5 on the night and hit his ninth double of the season. Starting Sioux City pitcher Ty Marotz threw seven innings and allowed one run on eight hits with a walk and five strikeouts on the night. Marotz is 3-1 on the season and holds a 5.96 ERA.
