Local businesses busy fixing broken air conditioners

Posted: Updated:

While these extreme temperatures aren't good for crops, some local businesses are benefiting from the hot weather.

There's no doubt about it, it's just plain hot outside and that means most air conditioners are running non-stop.

"Air conditioners have been running 24/7 and they don't get any relief," Jason Lopez said.

And that can turn into a broken air conditioning unit.

"Loose wires, dirty filters, it's going to show," Lopez said.

And that's where Jason Lopez of Central Heating and Air in Sioux Falls comes in. He started fixing dozens of a/c units as temperatures began climbing.

"It has been extremely crazy. I started at 6 a.m. and won't be done until about 8:30 or 9 p.m.," Lopez said.

Lopez is working outside but he's not complaining.

"It's what we do," Lopez said.

He especially doesn't mind because he says a lot of people need the cool air.

"It's very important because some people have medical conditions and have to have the air. It's just survival," Lopez said.

And for him, he says these temperatures can stick around.

"Business wise, I hope it stays hot," Lopez said.

Because he knows every call he goes on, he's going to fix the broken units.

"After I'm done, I'm going have it purr like a kitten," Lopez said.

If you have central air, you most likely want to change your filter every other month, especially if it's running often.
