Posted: Updated:

Two people charged in connection with the death of a 2-year-old Wagner girl are expected to appear in court Tuesday.

28-year-old Laurie Cournoyer, 28, Taylor Cournoyer, 21, are both charged with one count of felony abuse or cruelty to a minor and failure to notify law enforcement to the death of child.

An anonymous phone call led police to the Cournoyer home south of Wagner on July 4, where Rielee Lovell, 2, was found dead.

Police said the two had a hard time remembering the last time they saw the toddler alive.

The Wagner police chief and an officer said when they walked into the home they could smell a decomposed body.

According to a police report, Laurie mentioned at one point she had taken seven insomnia pills and used meth and pot with Taylor.

If found guilty both adults could serve up to 20 years in jail and a $40,000 fine.

An 11-year-old boy is also in custody. Investigators are calling this a homicide. Investigators haven't told us how the girl died.
