Bon Homme County issues burn ban

Posted: Updated:

The Bon Homme County Commission has banned open burning in the county because of dry conditions due to lack of rain.

The Bon Homme County Commission is banning open burning in the county including but not limited to campfires, warning fires or charcoal grill fires. The resolution does exclude fires contained within liquid-fueled or gas fueled stoves, fireplaces within buildings, charcoal grill fires at private residences and permanent fire pits or fire grates located on supervised developed picnic ground or campgrounds.

The Bon Homme County Commission says allowances will not be made for authorized burns. The ban will be in place until Emergency personnel determine the fire condition has improved.

Those who violate the Bon Homme County burn ban face a $200 fine or imprisonment.
