Posted: Updated:

No one was injured in an apartment fire damaging two stories of the building in Sioux Falls Thursday night.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue arrived to the fire at 2400 West 8th Street at 10 p.m. Thursday. Crews were able to extinguish the fire in approximately 30 minutes. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue says the apartment sustained fire damage to the first and second flood and the adjacent apartments sustained smoke damage.

People living in the apartment were out of the building before fire units arrived. The tenants living in the apartment where the fire started were not home.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue said the building did not have a fire sprinkler system. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind citizens to check their smoke detectors monthly.
